Department of Emergency Medicine

Message from the Chair

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Florida Atlantic University's Schmidt College of Medicine consists of academic and community faculty who work together to achieve new levels of excellence in emergency care for South Florida.

Our faculty have trained throughout the country and are fellowship-trained in multiple emergency medicine subspecialties including EMS, pediatric EM, ultrasound, simulation, toxicology, medical education, sports medicine, and hyperbaric medicine. They are committed to excellence in teaching and have established a national footprint with their clinical research.

At the core of our department is our Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Our program trains six residents per year with a high rate of graduates choosing to stay and practice locally.

Mission

We are innovative and bold, delivering excellent care to our community, and are advancing our field through research, discovery, teaching, and mentoring the future leaders of emergency medicine.
